Back to School

Hey tech campers,
Our summer is winding down and we will be back in the buildings this week. Hope all of you enjoyed the remainder of August; I know I did. Had some dental work done that prevented us from traveling, but we managed to gather apples, make a start at our dill pickles for the season, and keep up with the zucchini. I love all of the fresh veggies and fruits during the summer. I actually made an apple pie today, and everyone loved it.
We have a new English 9 teacher-Mindy Blair. She has five years teaching experience and will be a great addition to our staff. Stop by and say hello;she is in Rm. 129-Tom Bate's old traffic safety room for you oldtimers!
I am anxious to use some of the training we did with my students, especially AP Lit. I hope we can set up blogging accounts without being blocked.
Hope all the students completed their summer reading to get our school year off to a great start. See you all at the district lunch on Sept.3.

Web 2.0 class

I am learning so much new "stuff!" I hope I can remember how to use all of it, and am trying to create curriculum that uses some of this. For instance, I want my AP Lit students to bog (journal) weekly on the reading we are studying, and share this with the classroom group. We are also talking about sharing writing with the 5th graders in Kerry's classroom. Does anyone know the best way for us to set that up?

Summer is going fast!

I am taking a Web 2.0 class this week and next to learn how to do all this "stuff" and maybe use some of it with my students. It has been fun playing on the computer for clock hours!
Next week I am proctoring the WASL make-up tests for reading and writing. The week of the 24th Tom and I are driving around Washington looking for reunion sites and seeing places we have never visited together. Good thing Jessica will still be home to take care of the dog and chickens! The cats are pretty self-sufficient.
Eric and Kelly are in town for three weeks to visit family. His family reunion is this weekend. We are hosting a family barbecue on August 15 to meet Jessica's new boyfriend.
Teachers start back September 1, so I will enjoy the remaining days I have to sleep late, read, and relax!
